Event sponsorships offer unique marketing opportunities for local businesses

As a professional golf tour showcasing some of the top up-and-coming talent in professional golf, the Michigan Players Tour will be creating a number of excellent sponsorship opportunities for businesses and corporations seeking to associate itself with the sport.

As of this writing, the Tour is seeking sponsorship at all levels, ranging from Tour Title Sponsor (i.e., "umbrella" sponsor), to individual Event Sponsors and Associate Sponsors.

In particular, an Event Sponsorship can provide your company with a unique and powerful marketing tool to help publicize your products and / or services with a minimal investment. In addition, the sponsorship allows the creation of a Pro-Am preceding the event, allowing the event to become a company outing for employees, business partners, and customers.

The cost of an event sponsorship is surprisingly low in comparison to traditional forms of advertising.

The Potential of The Tour

The Michigan Players Tour is offering numerous sponsorship opportunities for corporations and businesses interested in associating their products and services with professional golf.

Types Of Sponsorship Available


There are four main types of sponsorships offered by the Tour. These are listed and described below.

1. Tour Title Sponsorship

Tour Title Sponsorship is an overall “umbrella sponsorship” in which the sponsor has naming rights to the entire Tour and will receive top billing in all media coverage of the Tour and its events. Pro-Ams can be created for a few or for many events, allowing the sponsor numerous opportunities for corporate outings. Depending on the amount of money invested, the sponsorship has the potential to elevate the Tour to the most prominent developmental tour in the U.S.

2. Division Sponsorship

A Division Sponsorship is a contribution to support one of the Divisions of the Tour. The Tour consists of three distinct divisions, which are:

a. Men’s Division

The Men’s Division consists of approximately 16 events each season, culminating in the MPT Tour Championship in early October.

b. Women’s Division

The Women’s Division consists of approximately 12 events each season, culminating in the MPT Ladies Tour Championship in early September.

c. MPT Extreme Series

The MPT Extreme Series consists of approximately 8 events each season, conducted on Saturdays, culminating in the MPT Extreme Series Championship in early October.

Division Sponsorship also allows the creation of several Pro-Ams preceding events in the Division.

3. Event Sponsorship

Event sponsorship allows the sponsor to focus its investment on a single event. In addition to being able to name the event, the sponsor can create a Pro-Am prior to the event to entertain employees and clients and to increase public participation. The sponsor can also conduct promotions leading up to, and during the event.

4. Associate Sponsorship

An associate sponsorship allows the sponsor to align itself with the Tour and to become involved in its marketing. An associate sponsor receives web links, signage at Tour courses, and mention in all Tour marketing efforts.


Benefits of Tour Title Sponsorship


By entering into a tour title sponsorship of the Michigan Players Tour, Your Company will receive the following key rights of sponsorship:

1. Your Company will be given naming rights to the Michigan Players Tour. The Tour may be renamed “The Your Company Tour” or any other name you so desire.

2. Your Company will have the right to redesign the Tour logo to enhance the visibility of the Tour and to highlight its involvement as a sponsor.

3. Your Company may revise and upgrade the Tour web site to reflect the company’s standards of graphic design and marketability, and to place links between the Tour web site and Your Company’s web site.

4. Your Company will have control over the participation of other companies as sponsors of the Tour. Your Company may wish to be the exclusive sponsor of the entire Tour and each of its events, or it may allow other firms to sponsor individual events (such as its suppliers and subsidiaries).

5. Your Company will have the right to create and participate in several Pro-Ams preceding Tour events for entertaining executives, employees, suppliers, and prospective business partners.

6. Your Company will be able to control the content, appearance, and frequency of all Tour advertising.

7. The Your Company logo will appear on all Tour promotional materials, advertising, and on the Tour web site (with appropriate links to Your Company’s corporate web site).

8. Your Company will be able to display signs, set up promotional booths, and build product displays at tournament sites and at Pro-Ams.

9. Your Company will be able to create numerous other promotions in conjunction with the Tour to drive customer participation and to increase sales.

10. Your Company will have direct access to many of the top players on the Tour to request personal appearances in support of company promotions and other marketing efforts. These players may go on to great fame and fortune in the game in the coming years.

11. Your Company will be able to select an appropriate charity where the proceeds of Tour events can be donated

Benefits of Division Sponsorship


By entering into a Division sponsorship of the Michigan Players Tour, Your Company will receive the following key rights of sponsorship:

1. Your Company will be given naming rights to the Division. You may rename the Division “The Your Company Division of the Michigan Players Tour,” or any other name you so desire.

2. Your Company will have control over the participation of other companies as sponsors of the Division. Your Company may wish to be the exclusive sponsor of the Division and each of its events, or it may allow other firms to sponsor individual events (such as suppliers and subsidiaries).

3. Your Company will have the right to create and participate in several Pro-Ams preceding events in the Division for entertaining executives, employees, suppliers, and prospective business partners.

4. Your Company will be able to control the content, appearance, and frequency of all advertising for events in the Division.

5. The Your Company logo will appear on all Tour promotional materials, advertising, and on the Tour web site (with appropriate links to Your Company’s corporate web site).

6. Your Company will be able to display signs, set up promotional booths, and build product displays at tournament sites and at Pro-Ams.

7. Your Company will have direct access to many of the top players on the Tour to request personal appearances in support of company promotions and other marketing efforts. These players may go on to great fame and fortune in the game in the coming years

8. Your Company will be able to select an appropriate charity where the proceeds of Tour events can be donated.

Benefits of Event Sponsorship


Among the benefits Your Company will receive by sponsoring a Tour event are:

1. Your Company will be given naming rights to the event.

2. Your Company will receive top billing in all references to the event in contacts with the media.

3. Your Company will have its logo appear on all Tour promotional materials, in print and digital advertising, and on the Tour web site (with appropriate links to the Your Company’s web site) for one calendar year.

4. Your Company may conduct a Pro-Am preceding the event to increase public awareness of the event, to entertain employees and business associates, and to generate additional funds to recoup the sponsorship fee of the event.

5. Your Company will have direct input over the appearance and frequency of all Tour advertising and other marketing efforts relating to the event it sponsors.

6. Your Company will have control over the appearance, the number, and the location of all signs and banners set up at the tournament course and in the vicinity (except for those owned by the tour title sponsor).

7. Your Company will be able to set up promotional booths at the tournament course.

8. Your Company will be able to create numerous other promotions in conjunction with the event to drive customer participation and to increase sales.

9. Your Company will have direct access to many of the top players on the Tour to request personal appearances in support of the Your Company’s promotions and other marketing efforts. These players may go on to great fame and fortune in the game in the coming years

10. Your Company will be able to select an appropriate charity where proceeds of the event can be donated.

Benefits of Associate Sponsorship


Among the benefits Your Company will receive by becoming an associate sponsor of the Tour are:

1. The Tour will issue a press release to regional television and newspapers at the commencement of the sponsorship.

2. The Tour will publish a story on the Tour web site home page announcing the sponsorship (appearing for one month), then the story will be relocated to Sponsorship page for one calendar year.

3. The Tour will produce and display two signs of the sponsor’s logo at each Tour event, one near the course entrance, and the other at the first tee.

4. The Tour will display the sponsoring company’s logo (with links) on the Tour web site for one calendar year.

5. The Tour will display Your Company’s logo on all Tour print publications such as direct mail brochures, print advertising and flyers, etc. for one calendar year.

6. Your Company may use the Michigan Players Tour logo in your own advertising.

7. Your Company may set up a product or services display at each tournament course during Tour events.

8. The Tour staff will assist Your Company in conducting promotions and other sales efforts made in conjunction with Tour events.
